The Ultimate Maui Travel Guide for Families

(because Hawaii is even more magical with your littles along for the ride!)

Planning a family trip to Maui? Whether it’s your first first time traveling as a family, or your tenth, Maui is one of the most magical—and surprisingly easy—destinations to travel as a family!

I’ve been going to Maui ever since I was a baby myself, and now that I’m a mom of two, I’ve fallen even more in love with it as one of my favorite destinations as a family. From the family-friendly resorts and calm, kid-friendly beaches to the fresh poke bowls, delicious shaved ice, and chill pace of life, it’s the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation—for parents and kids both!!!

Here’s your ultimate Jetset Fam guide to where to stay, eat, and play in Maui with kids.

Where to Stay in Maui with Kids

Wailea (Our Favorite for Families)

Wailea is our go-to. It’s walkable, breezy, upscale, and lined with beaches that feel made for babies and toddlers.

Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea Our go-to
For families with small children, nowhere beats FS Wailea. From complimentary baby gear to beachside cabanas and a super-welcoming kids club, the Four Seasons does everything right for families. The service is amazing, and the staff will set up a crib, deliver baby shampoo, and even provide swim diapers. It’s stroller-friendly, quiet in all the best ways, and perfectly located on Wailea Beach.

Fairmont Kea Lani
All-suite rooms and villas = key when you’re juggling naps, bottles, and early bedtimes. Their villas come with kitchens and laundry—huge for families. The pools are mellow, the lawn is perfect for toddler sprints, and everything feels just easy.

Grand Wailea

The Grand Wailea is a bit dated, but it’s still one of the best choices for families with kids. The pool area is definitely the main attraction here – and your kids will love it — think lazy river, waterslides, and tons of space for kids to splash around. There’s also a kids’ camp and plenty of family-friendly dining options on-site, which makes it easy for parents to relax a bit, too. It’s right on Wailea Beach, so you’ve got that gorgeous stretch of sand at your doorstep. If you’re visiting Maui with little ones, it’s an easy, low-stress base with plenty to keep everyone entertained.

Westin Maui

The Westin Maui is a great pick for families who want to be right on Ka’anapali Beach with everything at their fingertips. The pools here are a total win — especially the splash zone and mini waterslide for the littles. It feels super easy with kids, and there’s even a kids’ club if you’re craving a little grown-up time (hello, spa afternoon!). While it’s not over-the-top luxe, it’s clean, comfortable, and you can’t beat the location for beach walks, sunset views, and grabbing shave ice just steps from your room. A solid, stress-free option for a fun family getaway on the west side of Maui.

What to Do in Maui with Kids

Beach Mornings (aka built-in toddler entertainment)

  • Wailea Beach – Soft, spacious, and walkable from your resort. Our go-to for early-morning play.
  • Kapalua Bay Beach – Crystal-clear and gentle surf. Great for calm water snorkeling with kids.
  • Baby Beach, Lahaina – Shallow, reef-protected water. Perfect name, perfect beach.

Visit the Maui Ocean Center

Hands-on exhibits, an underwater tunnel, and the famous 3D whale experience make this aquarium a hit. Plus, it’s stroller-friendly and air-conditioned—perfect for a post-nap activity or mid-day break.

Sunrise at Haleakalā (or Sunset)

Use the time zone to your advantage—if your kids are up early, lean into it. Bundle up, bring snacks, and prepare to be wowed. If mornings are rough, sunset is equally stunning and a little easier on everyone’s sleep.

Chill Resort Days

Some of our favorite moments are the slow ones—pool dips, shaved ice breaks, stroller naps by the beach. Don’t over-schedule. You’re in Maui. Let the magic find you.

Where to Eat in Maui with Kids

Monkeypod Kitchen (Wailea + Ka’anapali)
Kid-friendly, parent-approved. Great kids menu, wood-fired pizzas, and the best mai tai on the island. Book ahead—it gets busy.

Mama’s Fish House (Paia)
A splurge meal, but 100% worth it. The food is incredible, the beachfront views are dreamy, and the service is top-tier—even with kids. They make littles feel just as welcome as adults. Book early—reservations fill up fast.

Coconut’s Fish Café (Kihei)
Fresh, casual, and laid-back. Their fish tacos are legendary, and there are plenty of high chairs and kid-approved sides like rice and fruit. Great for a casual lunch after the beach.

Nalu’s South Shore Grill (Kihei)
Live music, an open-air layout, and delicious island-style plates make this a local favorite for families. Their breakfast and brunch are especially great if your crew is up early with the time change.

Ululani’s Shave Ice
The best shave ice on the island—hands down. Get it with the snow cap and enjoy watching your toddler’s face light up with every bite. Locations all over Maui, including Kihei and Lahaina.

Lineage (Wailea)
Located in The Shops at Wailea, this modern Hawaiian restaurant is low-key, flavorful, and very family-friendly. Plenty of seating and a relaxed vibe make it easy to dine with littles.

Family Packing List Must-Haves for Maui

Jetset Family Travel Tips for Maui

Keep your days flexible – One big outing per day is plenty. The rest? Pool time, nap time, pineapple snack time.

Rent a car – You’ll want the flexibility to beach hop, explore, and hit up grocery stores for kid snacks!

Stop at Island Gourmet Market – Stock up on essentials, beach snacks, and fruit.

Pack reef-safe sunscreen + sun hats – The sun is strong, and you’ll be out in it all day.

Use the time zone to your advantage – Wake up early, beach early, nap early. Change your baby or kids schedule to work well for you! Early dinners + sunsets = built-in bedtime routine! We wake up at 5 or 6am when we’re in hawaii and it works well for us!!! Makes the time zone adjusting easier, too.

Bring a stroller AND carrier – Great for airport naps, walks along the beach path, and keeping your hands free.

Traveling with little ones isn’t always effortless—but it can be magical. Maui makes it easy to slow down, soak it in, and build memories you’ll never forget. Whether it’s your baby’s first beach nap or your toddler’s first shave ice, these are the moments that stick.
